1. UL498插頭/座與UL817插頭/座及UL498A的粗略區(qū)別
UL498的電源線是通過相應連接方式連接的（裝配式）；
UL817是電源線是直接注塑到本體的；
UL498A一般中間不帶電源線，由一個插頭轉(zhuǎn)換為多個插座或是不同結構間轉(zhuǎn)換。 

2. UL498插座的分類：
北美市場上有很多不同類型的插座：直片插刀式(straight blade)、扭鎖式(locking-type)及套管式(pin and sleeve)等。
直片插刀式插座分為四個級別：一般級別、醫(yī)用級別、美國聯(lián)邦規(guī)格及聯(lián)邦規(guī)格醫(yī)用級別，每個級別均有其獨特的標記要求。我們現(xiàn)在所碰到的一般都是家用的插頭插座，屬于一般級別。

3. 適用范圍

比較容易混淆的是receptacle and cord connector，區(qū)別在于receptacle是用于永久式安裝的，而cord connector是可以portable的。

4. 常用術語介紹
4.1 RECEPTACLE, SELF-GROUNDING – A receptacle which includes a spring clip or other part to provide for electrical continuity between the grounded device yoke and the mounting screw. 其他同普通插座，區(qū)別在于接地支架與安裝螺絲間有一個金屬片?？梢圆煌ㄟ^接地端子直接與金屬盒連接，達到接地功能。


4.2 RECEPTACLE, ISOLATED GROUND – A receptacle having the grounding terminal electrically isolated from the system ground when installed in a metallic outlet box or raceway system. 最明顯的標志是產(chǎn)品上會有一個橙色三角形標示。功能為減少電磁干擾。


4.3 RECEPTACLE, DUPLEX – A receptacle having two contact devices on a single mounting yoke for flush mounting in a plane surface. 雙聯(lián)插座，也就是同一個面上的有兩個插座孔。

4.4 RECEPTACLE, FLUSH – A receptacle which is intended for mounting in or on an outlet box, an outlet-box cover, or a flush-device cover plate for fixed installation on a branch circuit. 一般用于安裝于接線盒內(nèi)的永久安裝式的插座，安裝好后表面與安裝面齊平。

5.常見產(chǎn)品主要結構問題
5.1基本要求：
5.1.1材料：
HB，CTI小于等于3，HWI，HAI見table 8.1，RTI見table 8.2。需要注意的是永久安裝式的與portable的RTI要求是有不同的。

5.1.2帶電部件

5.1.3端子連接方式
5.1.3.1. wire binding terminal： 
A terminal in which the conductor is bent around the screw and is clamped directly under the head of the screw when it is tightened. 
a. 10AWG以上的導線不能通過此連接方式連接；
b. 這種方式的端子需要有一個向上翹的邊或周圍需要有阻擋物來hold the wire；
c. 不同電流的產(chǎn)品螺絲尺寸及螺間距要求都不同，見table 12.1；
d. 螺絲尺寸對應表見下面表格。

5.1.3.2 Pressure wire terminal：
A terminal which establishes a connection between one or more conductors and a terminal plate by means of mechanical pressure without the use of solder. 
分set screw type and clamp type,這種端子的壓線片厚度至少0.76mm，并且螺紋不應少于兩圈；

5.1.3.3 Push-in terminal：
A terminal where the stripped end of a conductor is pushed into the terminal and the clamping pressure is maintained by a spring mechanism, without the use of screws. 
a.接地端子不能用這種結構的連接方式；
b.端子孔應能插入14AWG的單芯線，但須阻止12AWG的線插入。如有release方式，則孔應不能插入14AWG及以上的導線，且不易被操作到。
c.不能用stranded wire。

5.1.4插片插孔尺寸 
見UL1681或WD 6

5.1.5其他結構問題
5.1.5.1 非接地結構的插座不應允許接地結構的插頭插入；
5.1.5.2 插座的安裝條mounting yoke厚度至少為1.02mm，還需要鍍銅或鎳或進行氧化處理，如果是鍍鋅的話，需要加做鍍層測試。

5.1.6 Marking and installation instruction
5.1.6.1具體要求見table 163.1-163.7
5.1.6.2 常見產(chǎn)品標示
插頭：1.公司的名字或商標等：電壓、電流；（On the device where visible after installation）
           2.交流標志：“AC”或者“AC only”或者“~”等；（On the device where visible after installation）
           3.剝線長度（端子旁邊或者產(chǎn)品說明上面）；
           4.線型，線規(guī)，線數(shù)（產(chǎn)品上或包裝盒上）
           5.“turn and pull”（針對自鎖結構，安裝后能看到的位置）。

插座：1. 制造商的名字或商標等；（On the device where visible after installation）

           2. 電壓、電流：（On the device where visible after installation）
           3. 交流標志：“AC”或者“AC only”或者“~”等；（On the device where visible after installation）
           4. 剝線長度：（端子旁邊或者產(chǎn)品說明上面）
           5. Cu wire only（產(chǎn)品上或者產(chǎn)品說明上面）
           6.扭力值：（安裝后能看到的位置，或者包裝盒，或者包裝盒內(nèi)的產(chǎn)品信息說明上）
           7.安裝說明，內(nèi)容應包括制造商名稱或商標，“To Install”, “Installation Instructions”或相關的字樣，線規(guī)，剝線長度，配線位置說明（標明“White Wire”, “Black Wire”, “Bare or Green Wire”, “Equipment Grounding Conductor”或相應的縮寫）。

6.測試
6.1 以下為幾種常見產(chǎn)品的測試項目表，每個測試需要多少樣品，什么情況下需要做這個測試都在表格里有體現(xiàn)。 

6.2 特殊測試
6.2.1 裝配式插頭，若其插頭body外的face cover（外殼）不是機械固定的，而是靠friction的，還需要另外做secureness of cover test(67)，及防止0.76mm的probe插入。
6.2.2 永久安裝式的產(chǎn)品與portable的產(chǎn)品的耐壓測試值有不同，標準上規(guī)定永久式300V以下2500V；portable的只要1000+2*額定值。
6.2.3 Mechanical sequence test：30A以下的set screw type需做，35A以上的setscrew and clamp type都需做。
6.2.4 Push-in terminal 見125-130測試，注意需28天溫升測試。
6.2.5 fault current：普通結構需做116，self-grounding需做116及123，測試點不同。

6.3 一般測試
6.3.1 溫升測試：注意端子及插片上都要布點（針對插座）

6.3.2 Horsepower overload test：電壓電流參見table 111.2。
